National Public Radio (NPR) a creature of the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967 signed into law by Lyndon Johnson produces and distributes news and cultural programming. It’s a non-profit funded by deductible member contributions and government underwriting. This, in contrast to commercial radio and TV which is funded by advertisers.
It is one of these commercial media stations, Fox News, that NPR wants your opinion on. In White House Vs Fox News War Of Words, Who Gets Your Vote? Mark Memmott tells of the White House targeting Fox and asks for your opinion. A cartoon portrayal of the battle looks like this:

Why do so-called "conservative voices" find it so difficult to be fact based. Facts are free for those inclined to want them. Just write "NPR revenue by percent" in your Google search and the first on the list provides the following. http://www.npr.org/about/privatesupport.html
"NPR is an independent, self-supporting media organization. It is also a membership organization of separately licensed and operated public radio stations across the United States.
(Read more about NPR's mission and operations.)
NPR supports its operations through a combination of membership dues and programming fees from over 860 independent radio stations, sponsorship from private foundations and corporations, and revenue from the sales of books, CDs, and merchandise. A very small percentage — between one percent to two percent of NPR's annual budget — comes from competitive grants sought by NPR from federally funded organizations, such as the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, National Science Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Published reports in Worth Magazine and Consumers Digest cited NPR as a leading U.S. nonprofit charity because of the organization's program spending efficiency, high level of private support, and outstanding public service."
Now, was that so hard to do? It adds a note of reality to your "voice."
You're welcome.

Thank you for your comment, Dwight. As I re-read my post I find it difficult to see why it wasn't "fact-based" as you seem to indicate. I didn't break down any percentages of private/ public funding for NPR. That was not my intent. The point of the post was simply to get the NPR survey on Fox out there in our small blogosphere.
Your referenced link indicates 10.1% of NPR funding comes from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which is federally funded. The footnote indicates that 434 of the 860 member stations that provide the main support to NPR are "rural" and receive "significantly higher" funding from CPB. Again, my intent was not to analyze NPR funding, but to merely be fact based! tjm
